La situazione attuale che tutti stiamo vivendo non ci permette di viaggiare in giro per il mondo ma quello che non ci potranno mai vietare è partire con la mente, fare le valigie col pensiero, visitare posti vicini e lontani con la nostra fantasia e frugare tra i nostri ricordi di accaniti viaggiatori.
Chiudete gli occhi e partite con me; oggi vi porto in Austria!
Facciamo un piccolo rewind al mese di novembre e riviviamo insieme il mio viaggio nella cittadina di Hall in Tirol.
Ci troviamo nel cuore del Tirolo, immersi nella tipica atmosfera che caratterizza i luoghi di questa meravigliosa regione.
In compagnia dell’ente del turismo locale, io ed altre blogger italiane abbiamo trascorso un magico weekend dedicato ad esplorare e conoscere in lungo e in largo Hall in Tirol, il paese che ci ha ospitato.
Dopo una veloce sosta in albergo per lasciare le valigie e darci una rinfrescata, ci siamo dirette verso Wattens per fare una prima e breve visita agli Swarovski Kristallwelten cioè i Mondi di Cristallo Swarovski.

Close your eyes and leave with me; today I’m taking you to Austria!
We make a small rewind in November and relive my trip together in the town of Hall in Tirol.
We are in the heart of Tyrol, immersed in the typical atmosphere that characterizes the places of this wonderful region.
In the company of the local tourism board, other Italian bloggers and I spent a magical weekend dedicated to knowing and exploring Hall and Tirol, the town that hosted us.
After a quick stop at the hotel to leave our suitcases and refresh ourselves, we headed towards Wattens to make a first and brief visit to the Swarovski Kristallwelten, i.e. the Swarovski Crystal Worlds.
La pioggia ci ha accolte in questo suggestivo e magico universo di cristalli sbrilluccicosi dove ci siamo perse tra le sfavillanti installazioni di cristalli che illuminano i giardini.
Quella che mi ha lasciata davvero a bocca aperta è stata senza dubbio la Nuvola di Cristallo, progettata da Andy Cao e Xavier Perrot. Questa monumentale installazione, nel cuore del nuovo giardino, fluttua sulla nera vasca a specchio in cui si riflette la luce dei cristalli che brillano come stelle nel firmamento notturno; essa consiste in circa 800.000 cristalli Swarovski inseriti a mano con una superficie di circa 1.400 m², il più grande al mondo nel suo genere.
The rain welcomed us in this evocative and magical universe of sparkling crystals where we got lost among the twinkling crystal installations that illuminate the gardens.
What really left me speechless was the Crystal Cloud, designed by Andy Cao and Xavier Perrot. This monumental installation, in the heart of the new garden, floats on the black mirror pool in which the light of the crystals that shine like stars in the night firmament is reflected; it consists of approximately 800.000 hand-inserted Swarovski crystals with an area of approximately 1.400 m², the largest in the world of its kind.
In collaborazione con il pluripremiato artista e designer spagnolo Jaime Hayon, Swarovski ha realizzato un’impressionante installazione interattiva: un carosello!
Decorato con 15 milioni di cristalli inseriti su 28 pannelli, il Carousel in bianco e nero crea un fantastico contrasto con il verde lussureggiante del giardino dei Mondi di Cristallo Swarovski. Il suo design moderno reinterpreta il carosello classico mantenendone allo stesso tempo il tocco nostalgico.
Usanze e fiabe hanno ispirato le figure appartenenti al mondo della fantasia sulle quali gli ospiti possono sedersi.
Secondo voi potevo farmi sfuggire la possibilità di farci un giro? Assolutamente no!!
Per concludere la magica serata in bellezza, abbiamo cenato nel ristorante posto all’interno degli Swarovski Kristallwelten: il Daniels Kristallwelten dove si possono godere i piaceri della buona tavola locale. Tutto in armonia con il concetto del cristallino, incastonato nel Giardino del Gigante.

Decorated with 15 million crystals placed on 28 panels, the black and white Carousel creates a fantastic contrast with the lush green of the Swarovski Crystal Worlds garden. Its modern design reinterprets the classic carousel while maintaining its nostalgic touch.
Customs and fairy tales inspired the characters belonging to the world of fantasy on which guests can sit.
Do you think I could miss the chance to take a ride? Absolutely not!!
To end the magical evening perfectly, we had the dinner in the restaurant located inside the Swarovski Kristallwelten: the Daniels Kristallwelten where you can enjoy the pleasures of good local cuisine. All in harmony with the concept of the crystalline lens, set in the Giant’s Garden.
Il giorno successivo, dopo un’abbondante colazione, siamo partite alla scoperta del delizioso paese Hall in Tirol.
La pioggia ha fatto spazio ad un timido sole.
Passeggiando tra i vicoli medievali di Hall in Tirol, si respira un delizioso profumo di Natale, un misto di Vin Brulè e cibo tirolese. Fa freddo ma non mi lamento. Sono completamente affascinata da questo posto! Questo è davvero il periodo migliore per visitare la città tirolese, vestita a festa per l’Avvento.
The next day, after an abundant breakfast, we set off to discover the delightful village Hall in Tirol.
The rain made room for a shy sun.
Walking through the medieval alleys of Hall in Tirol, you can breathe a delicious Christmas scent,
a mixture of Mulled Wine and Tyrolean food. It’s cold but I’m not complaining. I am completely fascinated by this place!
This is really the best time to visit the Tyrolean city, dressed up for Advent.
La storia di Hall ha radici antiche; nel 13° secolo la città diventa importante crocevia commerciale grazie alla scoperta di giacimenti alpini di salgemma a circa 9 km a nord della città, nella Halltal. Una leggenda narra di un pastore che aveva spento il fuoco con acqua di fonte scoprendo così incrostazioni di sale carbonizzato sui resti della legna.
Le saline di Hall sono rimaste in funzione fino al 1951 e chiuse definitivamente nel 1967; grazie al Museo Minerario nel cuore della città vecchia di Hall, ancora oggi si possono rivivere quei momenti.
Hall’s story has ancient roots; in the 13th century the city became an important commercial crossroads thanks to the discovery of alpine salt deposits about 9 km north of the city, in the Halltal. A legend tells of a shepherd who had put out the fire with spring water thus discovering incrustations of charred salt on the remains of the wood.
Hall’s salt pans remained in operation until 1951 and closed permanently in 1967; thanks to the Mining Museum in the heart of the old town of Hall, you can still relive those moments today.
Prima tappa: Münze Hall, il museo della Zecca di Hall.
Nel 15° secolo, quando nella vicina cittadina di Schwaz comincia l’estrazione di argento e rame dalle miniere, l’arciduca Sigismondo d’Austria sposta il conio della moneta da Merano a Hall che diventa, così, sede della Zecca del Tirolo.
Durante il suo regno, fu coniato il primo tallero e, a partire dal 1750, la moneta in argento più importante e famosa del mondo, il tallero di Maria Teresa, utilizzato in tutto il mondo come mezzo di pagamento.
Il cuore della Zecca di Hall è costituito dalla riproduzione fedele della prima macchina da conio a rulli del mondo, un pezzo unico! Per gli amanti delle monete, nello shop del museo è presente una pressa a vite per realizzare una moneta personale come ricordo della storica zecca. Non potevo non crearne una anche io!
Per finire la visita, ci attendono 186 gradini lungo il percorso strettissimo della scala a chiocciola per salire in cima alla Münzerturm, la torre dodecagonale della zecca, simbolo di Hall in Tirol. Ad aspettarci, una vista mozzafiato sulla città medievale di Hall, la valle dell’Inn e l’imponente massiccio del Karwendel sullo sfondo.
First stop: Münze Hall, the Hall Mint museum.
In the 15th century, when the extraction of silver and copper from the mines began in the nearby town of Schwaz, Archduke Sigismund of Austria moved the coinage from Merano to Hall which thus became the seat of the Mint of Tyrol.
During his reign, the first thaler was coined and, starting from 1750, the most important and famous silver coin in the world, the thaler of Maria Theresa, used all over the world as a means of payment.
The heart of the Mint of Hall is the faithful reproduction of the world’s first roller minting machine, a unique piece!
For coin lovers, in the museum shop there is a screw press to make a personal coin as a souvenir of the historic mint.
I could not avoid creating one too!
To finish the visit, 186 steps await us along the very narrow path of the spiral staircase to climb to the top of the Münzerturm, the dodecagonal tower of the mint, symbol of Hall in Tirol. Waiting for us there is a breathtaking view of the medieval town of Hall, the Inn valley and the great Karwendel mountain in the background.
Seconda tappa: Rathaus, il municipio di Hall
Raggiungendo la piazza centrale della città, Oberer Stadtplatz, abbiamo fatto visita alla Rathaus, cioè il municipio di Hall. L’edificio apparteneva, un tempo, al duca Leopoldo IV d’Asburgo che lo donò alla città nel 1406, divenendo sede del municipio. Dopo il grande incendio del 1447, fu interamente ricostruito e ad oggi si presenta tutto bianco, cinto da mura ornate con gli stemmi delle famiglie nobili che negli anni hanno governato la città.
All’interno, è possibile visitare la Ratsstube e ammirare la sua bellissima travatura. Si tratta della sala principale utilizzata come sede del consiglio comunale e spesso scelta per le celebrazioni nuziali.
Second stop: Rathaus, Hall town hall
Reaching the central square of the city, Oberer Stadtplatz, we visited the Rathaus, that is the town hall of Hall in Tirol.
The building once belonged to Duke Leopold IV of Habsburg who donated it to the city in 1406, becoming the headquarters of the town hall. After the great fire of 1447, it was completely rebuilt and today it is all white, surrounded by walls adorned with the coats of arms of the noble families who have ruled the city over the years.
Inside, you can visit the Ratsstube and admire its beautiful truss. This is the main room used as the seat of the city council and often chosen for wedding celebrations.
Terza tappa: Pfarrkirche Sankt Nikolaus, chiesa di San Nicola
Usciti dal municipio, siamo entrati a far visita alla Chiesa di San Nicola, anch’essa affacciata sulla piazza.
É stata consacrata nel 1281 e ha subìto negli anni vari ampliamenti della struttura. L’edificio sacro, inizialmente ad una navata in stile gotico, fu dotato di un coro più grande. Nel 1345 fu eretto il campanile, la cui parte superiore crollò nel terremoto del 1670 e fu sostituita da un barocco campanile a bulbo, visibile da gran parte della città. Nel 1352 fu costruita una nuova navata; dopo pochi decenni, però, la chiesa si rivelò nuovamente troppo piccola e così, nel 1420 fu ulteriormente ampliata, incontrando questa volta non pochi problemi. Essendo la chiesa ai margini di un terrazzamento, non era possibile spostare il nuovo muro della navata sud; di conseguenza, l’interno dell’edificio fu ampliato solamente verso ovest e verso nord, determinando un singolare decentramento dell’altare.
All’interno, si può ammirare la grande raccolta delle reliquie del cavaliere Florian Waldauf e il Palmenesel, l’Asino delle palme, un asinello in legno portato in processione la Domenica delle Palme.
Un’altra particolarità di questa chiesa è che essa non presenta un unico stile ma tutti quelli che nei secoli si sono alternati in questa zona.
Third stop: Pfarrkirche Sankt Nikolaus, church of San Nicola
Leaving the town hall, we entered to visit the Church of San Nicola, which also overlooks the square.
It was consecrated in 1281 and has undergone various expansions of the structure over the years.
The sacred building, initially with a Gothic nave, was equipped with a larger choir. In 1345 the bell tower was erected, the upper part of which collapsed in the earthquake of 1670 and was replaced by a baroque bulbous bell tower, visible from most of the city. In 1352 a new nave was built; after a few decades, however, the church turned out to be too small again and thus, in 1420 it was further enlarged, encountering a number of problems this time.
Since the church was on the edge of a terrace, it was not possible to move the new wall of the south nave; as a result, the interior of the building was enlarged only towards the west and north, resulting in a singular decentralization of the altar.
Inside, you can admire the large collection of the relics of the knight Florian Waldauf and the Palmenesel, the Donkey of the Palms, a wooden donkey carried in procession on Palm Sunday.
Another peculiarity of this church is that it does not have a single style but
all those who have alternated in this area over the centuries.
Pausa pranzo per rifocillarci con le gustosissime prelibatezze tirolesi e si va!
A pochi passi a nord di Hall in Tirol, ci accoglie il delizioso paese di Absam dove ci attende la visita alla famosa distilleria Bogner, a conduzione familiare. Qui, abbiamo avuto il piacere di conoscere i “padroni di casa” che ci hanno presentato la storia della loro distilleria, i loro prodotti e, per finire, ci hanno offerto una selezione infinita di Strudel tirolesi; una vera gioia per il mio palato goloso!
Lunch break to refresh ourself with the tasty Tyrolean delicacies and… go!
A few steps north of Hall in Tirol, the delightful village of Absam welcomes us, where a visit to the famous family-run Bogner distillery awaits us. Here, we had the pleasure of meeting the “hosts” who told us the history of their distillery, their products and, finally, offered us an infinite selection of Tyrolean Strudel; a real joy for my greedy palate!
Per concludere la nostra giornata, siamo tornati nel centro di Hall e abbiamo avuto modo di vedere una delle particolarità che caratterizzano la città durante il periodo dell’Avvento: 24 grandi numeri luminosi vengono proiettati sulle facciate degli edifici nell’Oberer Stadtplatz ad indicare l’avvicinarsi del Natale.
La piazza principale pullula di bancarelle di souvenir e cibo locale. Nell’aria c’è un profumino delizioso; mi prendo subito un bel pretzel gigante e una gustosissima strauben (frittella tirolese a forma di chiocciola servita con confettura di mirtilli o composta di mele)!
Il mercatino inizia a chiudere e la gente fa ritorno nelle proprie case. Anche per noi è giunta l’ora di tornare in hotel.
To end our day, we came back to the center of Hall and we had the opportunity to see one of the peculiarities that characterize the city during the Advent period: 24 large luminous numbers are projected on the facades of the buildings in the Oberer Stadtplatz to indicate the approaching Christmas.
The main square is full of souvenir and local food stalls. In the air there is a delicious perfume; I immediately take a nice giant pretzel and a tasty strauben (Tyrolean snail-shaped pancake served with blueberry jam or apple compote)!
The market begins to close and people return to their homes. The time has come for us to come back to the hotel too.
Buongiorno Austria, buongiorno Hall in Tirol!
Ore 7:30 suona la sveglia ma io ho gli occhi aperti già da una mezz’oretta. Le campane qui iniziano a suonare davvero presto e la mia deliziosa camera in stile tirolese affaccia proprio sul lato della chiesa.
Ho il sonno pesante ma sfido chiunque a non svegliarsi dopo ben 3 minuti di din don dan (sì, li ho cronometrati!)
Mi alzo, scendo per fare colazione insieme alle mie colleghe e risalgo a risistemare le ultime cose.
Apro il finestrone e per l’ultima volta respiro a pieni polmoni l’aria fresca e pungente mentre il canto degli uccellini mi fa compagnia. Mi prendo 10 minuti di relax totale per ammirare le montagne innevate che mi circondano.
“Hall in Tirol è davvero carina!” penso ancora una volta…
Ne approfitto per scattare qualche altra foto, valigia chiusa e via. Si riparte alla volta dei Mondi di Cristallo.
Good morning Austria, good morning Hall in Tirol!
7:30 am the alarm sounds but I have my eyes open for half an hour already. The church bells start ringing very early here and my lovely Tyrolean-style room overlooks the church.
I am a heavy sleeper but I challenge anyone not to wake up after 3 minutes of din don dan (yes, I have timed them!)
I get up, go down to breakfast with my colleagues and go back to rearranging my stuffs.
I open the window and for the last time I breathe deeply in the fresh and pungent air while the singing of the birds keeps me company. I take 10 minutes of total relaxation to admire the snowy mountains that surround me.
“Hall in Tirol is really pretty!” I think once again …
I take this opportunity to take some more photos, suitcase closed and off. We leave for the Crystal Worlds.
Questa volta abbiamo tutta la mattinata per esplorare per bene e con calma gli Swarovski Kristallwelten e il tempo è dalla nostra parte, non piove!
Immaginavo che ne sarei rimasta incantata ma non credevo così tanto!
La nostra visita ci ha permesso di scoprire la nascita del marchio di cristalli più famoso al mondo, abbiamo potuto conoscere la storia della famiglia Swarovski e perderci tra le meravigliose esposizioni permanenti e temporanee da cui si può accedere entrando all’interno del famoso Gigante.
Ultima tappa al negozio del brand per comprare qualche souvenir, ultimo pranzo tirolese con la mia amata schnitzel (la tipica cotoletta austriaca) e si parte, per tornare in Italia con la valigia piena di nuovi ricordi da custodire.
This time we have the whole morning to explore the Swarovski Kristallwelten
well and calmly and the weather is on our side, it doesn’t rain!
I imagined that I would be enchanted by it but I didn’t believe so much!
Our visit allowed us to discover the birth of the most famous crystal brand in the world,
we were able to learn about the history of the Swarovski family and get lost in the wonderful permanent and temporary exhibitions which can be accessed by entering the famous Giant.
Last stop at the brand shop to buy some souvenirs, last Tyrolean lunch with my beloved schnitzel (the typical Austrian cutlet) and let’s go, come back to Italy with my baggage full of new memories to keep.
