CDSHotels Grand Hotel Riviera : un gioiello d’altri tempi affacciato sul mare del Salento

E’ ottobre, è autunno, … Tanti viaggi mi aspettano nei prossimi mesi ma, nel frattempo, la mia mente torna ancora ai meravigliosi giorni passati in Salento come ospite del Grand Hotel Riviera, un albergo ****S che fa parte della catena alberghiera pugliese CDS Hotels. 

La struttura si trova nella piccola località di mare di Santa Maria al Bagno, una frazione di Nardò da cui dista solo una decina di km e a metà strada tra le più conosciute Gallipoli e Porto Cesareo, sulla costa ionica.
Giunti qui in un caldo pomeriggio di fine agosto, io e Nicola ci siamo sentiti subito a casa, l’accoglienza è stata delle migliori, personale e receptionist super professionali, gentili e cordiali.

It’s October, it’s autumn, … Many trips are waiting for me in the next months but, in the meantime, my mind is back again to the wonderful days spent in Salento as a guest of the Grand Hotel Riviera, a **** S hotel that is part of the Apulian hotel chain CDS Hotels.

The building is located in the small seaside town of Santa Maria al Bagno, a fraction of Nardò from which it is only a dozen kilometers and halfway between the best known Gallipoli and Porto Cesareo, on the Ionian coast.
Arrived here on a warm afternoon at the end of August, Nicola and I felt immediately at home, the reception was the best, staff and receptionists were super professional, kind and friendly.

Il Grand Hotel Riviera, storico albergo del Salento e meta di villeggiatura per l’élite italiana e non solo degli anni ’60, ritornato al suo originario splendore dopo un’attenta e accurata ristrutturazione, arricchisce la famiglia di CDSHotels. L’hotel è adagiato sulla scogliera che si estende sul mare della baia di Gallipoli.
Il blu intenso del Mar Ionio, il verde della pineta e della macchia mediterranea, il bianco delle case e della vicina spiaggia di sabbia fine sono i colori che circondano l’hotel, illuminato dal caldo sole salentino.

Il ristorante offre ogni giorno piatti di alta cucina gourmet ispirati alla tradizione locale.
Un altro punto a favore è sicuramente l’ottima posizione della struttura, tra il Parco Naturale di Porto Selvaggio e Gallipoli, a pochi minuti dall’entroterra salentino; il Grand Hotel Riviera è il punto di partenza ideale per visitare le più belle località del Salento e della Puglia ricche di natura, storia, arte e cultura.

The Grand Hotel Riviera, historic hotel in Salento and a holiday destination for the Italian elite and not only of the ’60s, returned to its original splendor after a careful renovation, enriching the family of CDSHotels.
The hotel is set on the cliff over the sea of Gallipoli bay.
The intense blue of the Ionian Sea, the green of the pinewood and the Mediterranean vegetation, the white of the houses and the nearby beach with its fine sand are the colors that surround the hotel, illuminated by the warm sun of Salento.

The restaurant offers daily gourmet cuisine inspired by local tradition.
Another plus point is certainly the excellent location of the building, between the Natural Park of Porto Selvaggio and Gallipoli, a few minutes from the hinterland of Salento; Grand Hotel Riviera is the ideal starting point to visit the most beautiful places of Salento and Puglia rich in nature, history, art and culture.

Tornando al nostro soggiorno, stanchi e stremati dopo un viaggio di 4 ore, la cosa più bella è stata entrare nella nostra camera Superior e sdraiarci sul letto, ovviamente solo dopo aver esplorato la stanza ed aver ammirato lo splendido panorama dal nostro balconcino, una vista a 180° sul paese e sul cristallino Mar Ionio.
Un breve riposino e via, subito in piscina per passare un pomeriggio di relax e divertimento in acqua!
Abbiamo trascorso la serata nel vicino paese di Santa Caterina, un’altra frazione di Nardò, facilmente raggiungibile a piedi percorrendo il lungomare illuminato dalla luna.

Returning to our stay, tired and exhausted after a 4-hour trip, the best thing was to enter our Superior room and lie down on the bed, of course only after exploring the room and admiring the beautiful view from our balcony, at 180 ° on the village and on the crystalline Ionian Sea.
A short nap and go, immediately to the swimming pool of the hotel to spend an afternoon of relaxation and fun in the water!
We spent the evening in the nearby village of Santa Caterina, another fraction of Nardò, easily reachable on foot along the moonlit promenade.

Il giorno seguente, abbiamo approfittato della bella e calda giornata
per dedicarci allo shooting in piscina e nel giardino dell’albergo.

The following day, we took advantage of the beautiful and hot day
to dedicate ourselves to the shooting in the pool and in the hotel’s garden.

In serata, abbiamo trascorso ore piacevoli in compagnia del direttore del CDSHotels Grand Hotel Riviera e della Social Media Manager della catena, nella terrazza con vista sulla baia del Cloe Restaurant, il ristorante adiacente alla struttura, dove abbiamo potuto gustare ottimi piatti gourmet cucinati dalla chef, oltre che godere del magnifico panorama dove i colori del cielo e del mare si abbracciano e si fondono tra di loro.
Il mare sullo sfondo, la luna che vi si riflette ed un ambiente intimo e raffinato hanno fatto da cornice alla nostra piacevolissima serata, durante la quale la chef ci ha deliziato con i piatti più esclusivi della tradizione gastronomica pugliese, rivisitati con estro e creatività.

In the evening, we spent pleasant hours together with the hotel manager and the Social Media Manager of the chain CDS Hotels, on the terrace of Cloe Restaurant overlooking the bay, adjacent to the hotel, where we could enjoy excellent gourmet dishes cooked by the chef , as well as enjoying the magnificent view where the colors of the sky and the sea embrace and blend  together.

The sea in the background, the moon reflected in it and an intimate and refined atmosphere have been the setting for our pleasant evening, during which the chef has delighted us with the most exclusive dishes of the Apulian gastronomic tradition, revisited with inspiration and creativity.

Terzo giorno in questo paradiso e non c’è niente di meglio di un’ottima e super abbondante colazione in camera.
Il tempo non è dei migliori ed un forte nubifragio ci ha costretti a rimanere in hotel ma dopotutto, in un albergo così bello non è stato affatto male goderci del tempo nella hall, un’ottima occasione per lavorare un po’ al pc.

Third day in this heaven and there is nothing better than a great and super abundant breakfast in the room.
The weather was not the best and a strong storm forced us to stay in the hotel but after all, in such a beautiful hotel it was not bad at all to enjoy the time in the lobby, an excellent opportunity to work a little.

Dopo qualche ora, la pioggia ha smesso di venire giù, è tornato il sole più caldo di prima e così abbiamo deciso di trascorrere tutto il pomeriggio nella spiaggia privata del CDSHotels Grand Hotel Riviera , attrezzata con lettini e ombrelloni sulla scogliera di fronte alla struttura.
L’acqua era fredda ma così trasparente e pulita che tutto il resto passava in secondo piano.
Tra un tuffo e l’altro, ne abbiamo approfittato per scattare foto spettacolari con la nostra nuova Go Pro e abbiamo anche provato a far volare il drone per fare qualche ripresa dell’hotel dal mare. Un vero spettacolo!
Per l’ultima sera in Salento, abbiamo deciso di spostarci verso Gallipoli e di cenare qui.

After a few hours, the rain stopped coming down, the sun was warmer than before and so we decided to spend all afternoon in the hotel’s private beach, equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas on the cliff in front of the building.
The water was cold but so transparent and crystalline!
Between one dive and another, we took the opportunity to take spectacular photos with our new Go Pro and we also tried to fly the drone to make some shots of the hotel from the sea. So stunning!
For the last night in Salento, we decided to move to Gallipoli and have dinner there.

Il mattino seguente, dopo una fantastica colazione dolce e salata,
abbiamo trascorso le ultime ore del nostro soggiorno in piscina.
Purtroppo anche questa vacanza indimenticabile in uno degli angoli più incantevoli
del litorale del Salento è giunta al termine. 
Spero che le mie parole siano riuscite a stuzzicare la vostra curiosità!

The following morning, after a fantastic sweet and savory breakfast,
we spent the last hours of our stay in the swimming pool.
Unfortunately, this unforgettable holiday in one of the most enchanting corners
of the Salento coast has come to an end.
